Erected in memory of Thomas Metcalfe late of Burtersett, hosier who departed this life on the 16 day Dec 1829 aged 64 yrs. Alsoof Elizabeth dau of the said Thomas & Rachel Metcalfe who departed this life on the 30 day Jun 1791 aged 2 yrs.

In loving remembrance of John Metcalfe of Burtersett who d 10 Oct 1861 aged 69 yrs. Also of Elizabeth his wife who d 5 Jul 1863 aged 63 yrs. Also of Margaret dau of the above named John & Elizabeth Metcalfe who d 27 Sep 1853 aged 30 yrs. Also of Thomas their son who d 7 Aug 1856 aged 31 yrs. Also Mary Ann their dau who d 5 Dec 1884 aged 55 yrs & was interred at Royton Cemetery Lancashire. And of Michael their son who d 10 Apr 1889 aged 62 yrs & was interred at Royton Cemetery.
