In memory of Maj Gen Turner van Straubenzee CB bor 9 Aug 1838 d. at Spennithorne 27 Feb 1920 son of Henry van Straubenzee. He commanded the Royal Artillery of the Indian Continent in the Egyptian campaign 1882 & was COC the Madras District 1891-95. Also of his wife Florinda dau of W J Hamilton of Fiddown, Ireland who d. at Spennithorne 14 Mar 1924 & of their sons Henry Turner born 28 Dec 1878 d. 18 Apr 1914 in Johannesburg. S. Africa; Percival Lieut Commander RN born 13 Dec 1880. He served with the Benin Expedition 1897 & was lost in action in HMS 'Good Hope' at Coronel on 1 Nov 1914.
