Whilst my main site concerns the Yorkshire Dales and the families which originate from there, many researchers and intending visitors ask on our forums, how to reach the Dales and where to stay once there. Here are a few ideas to consider.

As an expatriot myself, and with family still in Yorkshire, I look for the most direct and least expensive, yet comfortable and reliable company I can find. Flying from Canada, I can recommend Canadian Affair. This involves Air Transat and Thomas Cook craft, plus Westjet
Expedia is a well-known site for searching good deals on air travel, package deals etc.

    Maps
Anquet Maps Anquet’s map software provides easy to use route planning tools with digital maps for PCs, Pocket PCs and Smartphones. The map software can also be used to directly program routes and waypoints into GPS units

The best selection of all types is bound to be Ordnance Survey.
For example, there's the OS Explorer map for the Yorkshire Dales at £7.99, widely available - or you might go for the ViewRanger™ which transforms a Nokia or other S60 smartphone into a fully featured trail and off-road navigation system.
